You Are Not Accepted, Don’t Come As You Are

You read that right.

Though I don’t stand in agreement with Stanley Hauerwas as much as I used to, I still appreciate his life and work. He gave me a vocabulary with which to express my frustrations with much of Christendom, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Even today, much of what he has to say still resonates with me as someone who believes that Jesus meant what He said in the Beatitudes and didn’t stutter.
